Pray to God but Row for the Shore

A man once dreamed of building a playground in a ghetto neighborhood. He approached the owners of an apartment complex, who gave him permission to build, but offered no help. As he walked through the complex one day, he met a little girl. He shared his dream with her and she immediately ran to her apartment and returned with a thick stack of crayon sketches. She already shared his vision! Her drawings showed him the playground she wanted – one with a slide, lots of swings, and monkey bars. She showed him the exact spot where she wanted it built, and then she said, “I’ve been praying for this a long time!”

The man told her he would need lots of help to turn the dream into a reality, and the little girl nodded in agreement. In the coming weeks, she tirelessly slipped fliers under doors and made appointments for the man to speak to parents and teachers. Word spread. Several companies donated materials. The little girl convinced architects and fund-raisers to help build her dream. When construction started, hundreds of volunteers showed up to help. Soon, there was a playground!
