20/20

One of the great joys of serving as a pastor is that every other month I get to meet with other pastors in SSF that make up our ministerium, or Pastor’s Fellowship. This are great men of God who love the Lord and love serving their congregations. During our December meeting, Pastor Joel Roman from Casa de Oracion mentioned his theme for 2020 was 20/20 Vision. That struck me as so clever and creative that I had to steal it!

Therefore, our next sermon series is called: 2020 Focus: Focusing on the Basics. We are going to get back to the basics fundamentals of our faith and see what Scripture says about: Who is God? What is the Condition of Humankind? Who is Jesus? Salvation. What is the church?

With all of the business of life, it is easy for our vision and our faith to become blurred. Unless we are able to focus on God’s word and the presence of Jesus, we will not be able to see clearly what his purpose for our lives is.

Here is a part of what is known as St. Patrick’s Prayer, or St. Patrick’s Breastplate. This prayer will help us keep our focus on Christ daily:

Christ with me, Christ before me,
Christ behind me, Christ in me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.

Let’s make Christ our focus as we begin a new year.

Your servant in Christ,

pastor mike
